SAVE THIS TIP ON CHANGE & TIME, "IF YOU CONTINUE TO DO WHAT YOU HAVE ALWAYS DONE, THEN GUESS WHAT? YOU WILL ALWAYS CONTINUE TO HAVE WHAT YOU ALWAYS GOT" GET IT?
HERE'S A LITTLE EXAMPLE, EVERYTIME I SHOWED UP LATE TO A PLACE OR EVENT, I FELT SO BAD INSIDE THAT I COULD NOT CONCENTRATE ON THE REASON WHY I WAS SUPPOSE TO BE AT THAT PLACE! I WOULD LITERALLY, "KICK MY SELF ALL THE WAY HOME" YET, WHEN I RECEIVED OTHER INVITATIONS TO A DIFFERENT PLACES SO THAT I COULD REDEEM MYSELF, I WOULD ONLY FALL BACK INTO THE SAME OLD HABIT. WHICH IS TO SAY, "I WAS LATE AGAIN." NOW, YOU MAYBE WONDERING WHY I DIDN'T MAKE UP MY MIND TO GET UP EARLIER OR SET AN ALARM CLOCK OR DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT. DUH!
WELL, LET ME TELL YOU, AFTER I GOT TIRED OF BEING SICK & TIRED, I FINALLY MADE SOME CHANGES. THESE CHANGES REALLY CAUSED ME TO KEEP A LOT OF GREY HAIRS OUT OF MY HAIR PREMATURELY. PLUS, IT TOOK A LOT OF STRESS OFF OF MY SHOULDERS. I DECIDED TO ALLOW A NEW ATTITUDE TO EMERGE. I HEARD FROM A FRIEND OF A FRIEND THAT A LIFE COACH NAMED DR. JAMES P. NORMAN & MRS. KATHLEEN NORMAN WHO HAPPENS TO OVERSEE A FAITH BASED ORGANIZATION CALLED "ARTESIAN WELL FAITH CENTER" WERE IN TOWN AND TALKING IN SUCH A WAY THAT NO ONE ELSE WAS DOING. I HAD TO CHECK IT OUT.
IF IT HADN'T BEEN FOR THE INTEGRITY & HONESTY THAT I EXPERIENCE FROM THE TIME I WALKED THRU THOSE DOORS AT ARTESIAN WELL FAITH CENTER UNTIL THE TIME I WAS GIVEN THE O.K. TO DEPART ON GOOD TERMS WITH DR. & DR. JAMES PHILLIP NORMAN, JR. I REALLY DON'T KNOW HOW I WOULD HAVE MADE THIS FAR IN MY LIFE WITH KEEPING MY HEAD UP AND BEING OPTIMISTIC ABOUT MY FUTURE. AWFC IS AN AWESOME PLACE WITH AWESOME PEOPLE DOING AWESOME THINGS!!!

YOU SEE, I HAVE BEEN ON A JOURNEY TO FIND INDIVDUALS WHO WERE HONEST, SUCCESSFUL, FULFILLED, HAPPY, FRIENDLY, GIVING & LIVING A STRESS FREE LIFE. SO, I WAS CHALLENGED BY DR. & MRS. NORMAN TO MAKE SOME HARD CHOICES & DECIDED TO BE A CONTRIBUTOR TO MY SUCCESSFUL PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT IN LIFE. I HAD TO MAKE SOME COMMITMENTS SUCH AS: * GOING TO BED IN A TIMELY MANNER THE NIGHT BEFORE
* SET ALL MY CLOCKS IN THE HOUSE AT LEAST 15 MINUTES EARLY
* IRON OR GET MY CLOTHES READY THE NIGHT BEFORE
* MAKE MY LUNCH OR ANYTHING ELSE THE NIGHT BEFORE
* TO MAKE A LIST OF THINGS TO DO (TO EASE MY MIND)
* SET SOME SHORT TERM GOALS
* SET SOME MID RANGE GOALS
* CELEBRATE THE SHORT TERM GOALS ONCE ACHIEVED
* GIVE MYSELF A PAT ON THE BACK (TO ENCOURAGE MYSELF)
* "IF I CAN'T SAY SOMETHING GOOD, DON'T SAY ANYTHING"
* DON'T PURCHASE ITEMS THAT ARE DETRIMENTAL TO MY HEALTH
JUST TO NAME A FEW CHANGES! WHEN I STARTED TO PUT SOME OF THESE SIMPLE LITTLE, LITTLE THINGS IN ACTION, I FELT SO GOOD ABOUT MYSELF. MY HEAD WAS LIFTED AND I STARTED TO BELIEVE I WAS CAPABLE OF CHANGE! NOW, I DO NOT WANT YOU TO SAY, "THIS WOMAN DOESN'T KNOW WHAT SHE IS TALKING ABOUT" DON'T GET IT TWISTED, IT WON'T HAPPEN OVERNIGHT IF YOU DON'T MAKE A HONEST COMMITMENT TO FINDING A WAY TO LIVE STRESS FREE. YOU HAVE TO WANT THIS!
BY THE TIME I PRETTY MUCH FINISHED MY JOURNEY AT ARTESIAN WELL FAITH CENTER, I WAS A TWO TIME FIRST GENERATION COLLEGE GRADUATE FROM LOS ANGELES CITY COLLEGE AND CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, LONG BEACH.
PLUS, I TOOK ON A HUGE TASK OF COMPLETING THE CITY OF LONG BEACH'S NEIGHBORHOOD LEADERSHIP PROGRAM IN 2003. AMONG OTHER ACCOMPLISHMENTS UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF DR. & MRS. JAMES PHILLIP NORMAN, JR, HERE ARE SOME OF THE THINGS I HUMBLY ADMIT WE COMPLETED:
*WE REVITALIZED A DEFUNCT NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH GROUP
*STARTED A SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS COLLABORATION
*WON A GRANT TO PLANT 15 - 20 TREES ALONG PACIFIC AVE
*HELD A HUGE COMMUNITY BLOCK PARTY DURING THE SUM OF 2004
*HELD A INFORMATION FAIR AT MACARTHUR PARK IN SUMMER 2003
*PUSHED FOR ENFORCEMENT ON A FEW ORDINANCES IN OUR DIST
*ESTABLISHED NEW ORDINACES IN 1ST DISTRICT
*RAISE THE AWARENESS FOR QUALITY OF LIFE IN OUR DISTRICT
*HELP MAKE OUR STREETS JUST A LITTLE MORE SAFE
*TAUGHT OUR KIDS HOW TO BE CONTRIBUTING MEMBERS OF SOCIETY
*BUILT A PRETTY GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH COMMUNITY POLICING
*BUILT A STRONG RELATIONSHIP WITH LBPD SOUTH DISTRICT
I FEEL SAFE TO SAY, WE ACCOMPLISHED A LOT DURING MY TERM OF SERVICE AT ARTESIAN WELL FAITH CENTER UNDER DR. JAMES PHILLIP NORMAN, JR & HIS WONDERFUL WIFE DR. KATHLEEN NORMAN AND FAMILY. MAY YOU ALL CONTINUE TO PROSPER FROM NOW UNTIL INFINITY!
